ACSEINE Research Timeline

● 1970s
Before becoming ACSEINE, while conducting joint research with a Medical Foundation and operating under the medical department of Orly Co., Ltd., we discovered that “cosmetic pigmented dermatosis” was a common issue among those with abnormal facial skin discoloration. This was found to be significantly linked to allergies. Since then, continuous research and development have been conducted to find ways to eliminate allergens from cosmetic raw materials.

● 1972
Joint research began with a team of dermatologists led by Dr. Hideo Nakayama, Head of Dermatology at Tokyo Central Samiseki Hospital, who was researching “fragrance secretion and allergies.” This led to the development of the ACC (Allergen Controlled Cosmetics) prototype. By removing various ingredients that cause cosmetic-related dermatitis, clinical trials showed it could effectively assist in the treatment of allergies in cosmetic pigmented dermatosis.

● 1973
We established the “ACS” (Allergen Control System) research association to prevent the recurrence of dermatitis in collaboration with several companies from different industries. We also started a research group to treat recurring dermatitis called the “ACS Research Society.”

● 1977
Meanwhile, cosmetics developed according to the ACS (Allergen Control System) completed clinical testing at various locations, such as the Department of Dermatology at Nagoya University, the Department of Dermatology at Kansai Medical University, and the Kaisei Hospital Department of Dermatology. In this same year, the ACS Consulting Center was established, beginning consultation services provided by expert pharmacists.

Product Development and Sales Timeline

● 1979
Products were launched and test-marketed under the brand name “Clinica.” Subsequently, quality and design were improved, and sales began in hospitals, universities, department stores, and pharmacies.

● 1984
“ACSEINE Corporation” was established, named after the initials “ACS.”

A, C, and S—these three letters are the origin and essence of ACSEINE.

After spinning off from the medical department of Orly Co., Ltd. and rebranding as “ACSEINE,” the company began selling cosmeceutical skincare products. The ACS-related business is characterized by the development of specialized products with low-allergen properties to reduce chronic allergies and restore strong, non-sensitive skin. It achieved status as an independent business entity, forging its own unique path.

● 1990 – 1991
The sun care product line was created, and the world’s first Microcapsule technology was developed to encapsulate all pigments for those with sensitive skin or metal allergies. This evolved into ACSEINE Makeup PV (Perfect Veil), a technique that coats cosmetic pigments with a thin silica film to prevent direct skin contact. The makeup set was launched in 2001.

● 1995
The AD Control skin conditioning set was launched for the safety of hypersensitive skin, based on a supplementary therapy method for atopic dermatitis: Skin Control = Hygiene + Moisturizing.

● 2000
Developed “Release Emulsion,” an innovative capsule containing ‘Whitening’ agents designed to mimic skin cell structures. This evolved into Multi-layer Release in 2007, a technology that helps distribute ingredients and enhances the targeted penetration of brightening agents to the root of dullness without disturbing sensitive skin. The White Emulsion product line was launched.

● 2001
Launched Moistbalance, a moisturizing gel featuring Nano Ceramide technology. It held the title of the most popular product in Japan for 11 consecutive years until the launch of the Moistbalance Lotion in 2016, which has won 36 awards since its debut.

● 2004
Launched the Super Sunshield sunscreen line with a 100% physical, chemical-free formula. The best-selling product is Super Sunshield EX (2012), offering high UV protection with SPF50+ <PA++++> while providing a lightweight feel that doesn’t burden the skin. It is safe for sensitive skin and functions as a makeup base to condition the skin.

● 2005 – 2006
Launched a lotion and mask for adult acne, irritation-prone skin, and dryness: ACSEINE Sebum Clean Water AC Moist.

● 2011
Launched Future Cycle Creamy Serum, an Advanced Care series to help treat aging skin and wrinkles.

● 2013
Integrated PV (Perfect Veil) technology, which prevents pigments from touching the skin directly, into the new “Airy Fit Color Keep” technology. This led to the launch of the New Face Color makeup series in 4 categories—eyeshadow, eyebrow, blush, and highlighter—featuring a lightweight texture and vibrant colors, along with a lip gloss that provides moisture to delicate, irritation-prone lips.

● 2017 – 2018
Launched Super Sunshield Bright Veil, a sunscreen that protects against UV rays while helping to conceal dullness and dark spots, and Super Sunshield Bright Fit, a milky sunscreen lotion for face and body that protects against pollution and provides moisture to prevent flakiness during the day. Both became best-sellers alongside Super Sunshield EX and the Moistbalance series.

In 2018, ACSEINE opened its first counter in Thailand to sell products and provide consultations for sensitive skin concerns at ICONSIAM, located on the M Floor of the Siam Takashimaya department store, alongside various renowned high-end brands.
